At Synergy Veterinary Behaviour Solutions, we are dedicated to providing the highest level of care for your patients. To ensure the most effective treatment for behavioural concerns, we kindly ask that the following be completed before referral of a pet for behavioural care:
- Comprehensive Physical Examination: Please ensure a thorough physical exam has been conducted and any medical concerns are addressed, particularly the following:
- Mobility and Pain: Conduct a locomotory exam on a non-slip surface, including a video review and range of motion evaluation.
- Skin Conditions: Assess for issues such as dermatitis and otitis.
- Gastrointestinal and Dental Health: including current soft stools, vomiting, anal gland issues or dental pain.
- Ocular Health: Please check for any potential ocular diseases.
- Diagnostic Testing: Prior to referral, all patients should have the following diagnostic tests completed:
- Complete Blood Count (CBC)
- Comprehensive Biochemistry Panel
- For pets over 6 years of age, we recommend Total T4 testing.
- Complete urinalysis (USG, Dipstick and Sediment examination)
- Faecal floatation and cytology if gastrointestinal distress occurs.
If any underlying medical conditions are identified that may be contributing to behavioural issues, we will initiate the appropriate diagnostics and treatment. Should the required tests not have been completed prior to referral, we will conduct these assessments as part of our treatment.
We value close communication with primary care veterinarians and will ensure that the pet is referred back to you once their behavioural condition is stable and ready for transport and care in a veterinary environment.
Thank you for your collaboration in providing the best possible care for your patients. We look forward to working together to support their health and wellbeing.
When veterinarians collaborate, patient outcomes improve through shared expertise and comprehensive care. This teamwork enhances treatment decisions, fostering better health for pets and stronger relationships with their guardians.
